K9 Unit

The Harrison Township Police Department K-9 Unit was established in February of 2022 after receiving an extremely generous donation from Mr. Kenny Patel, the owner of two Dunkin’ stores here in Harrison Township. With this donation we were able to purchase a German Shepherd who was born in Hungary and was aptly named, “Dunkin”. “Dunkin” is partnered with Ptl. Gregory Germscheid. Ptl. Germscheid and “Dunkin” graduated the 22 week Atlantic County John “Sonny” Burke K-9 Academy where Ptl. Germscheid received the John "Sonny" Burke Award which is given to the K-9 team that demonstrated the highest level of performance and dedication during their training. K-9 Dunkin is dual trained in narcotics and patrol.

Our K-9 Unit is not fully supported by our police budget and does become expensive. That is why private donations are so important to “Dunkin” and future K-9s’ well-being and ability to work within the town.
